For this week's blog, I've been reflecting on my last week being in Samoa and my journey and contemplating what “relentless focus” and “consistent action” truly means to me. Honestly, I’m in a period of change, navigating a significant midlife transition that feels like both a breakthrough and, at times, a bit vulnerable. But ultimately, I know it is helping me to align with what's best for me and in the end will have the greatest benefit.

I’ve been spending a lot of time on my own recently, and this period of isolation has become a space for deep self-evaluation. It’s crazy how stepping back from the daily grind can really illuminate what’s been working and what hasn’t. My time in Samoa, just taking a breath and slowing down, has given me so much clarity. I’ve been reflecting on who I am right now and, more importantly, who I want to become. I’ve also realized that the results of all my hard work haven’t quite aligned with the outcomes I truly believe I deserve or what I hope for in the future. So here are a few of my realisations.

No More Burning myself out

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that I can’t keep burning myself out for minimal rewards. Do any of us really want to hustle tirelessly, just to feel drained with nothing to show for it? No, thank you! I’m shifting my focus away from hustle culture and learning to value my time and energy more. From now on, I’m prioritizing doing what I love things that benefit my daughter and me before trying to meet everyone else’s expectations.

What Really Matters to me

I’ve started honing in on my core values, goals, and the things that truly light me up. What makes me feel alive? What do I enjoy? It’s easy to get swept up in other people’s expectations or trying to serve everyone else, but this journey is about carving my own path. The more I explore these questions, the clearer my goals are becoming.

I Am Really Listening to Myself

I don’t want to work excessively anymore. My body and mind are over it, and I’m finally listening to them. I want better for myself and that’s non-negotiable anymore.

So, as I move forward, I’m focusing on creating manageable, sustainable actions that keep me aligned with my values.

Here’s how I’m doing it:

  1. Setting Clearer Goals: I’m focusing on fewer goals but with bigger outcomes. It's all about quality over quantity, and making sure that the goals I set align with my core values and long-term vision.

  1. Building a Balanced Routine: My days need to feel fulfilling, not draining. I’m carving out time for the things I love whether that’s reading, hiking, or simply taking time to relax and recharge.

  1. Cutting Out the Noise: I’m working on minimizing distractions. Whether that’s stepping back from social media or letting go of relationships that drain my energy, I’m committed to focusing on what truly matters to me. Saying No to other projects moving forward.

  1. Setting Boundaries: This is something I’ve learned to be more intentional about. Boundaries are essential for protecting my peace, time, and energy. It's about saying no to things that don’t align with my goals or values, and giving myself permission to put my needs first.

  1. Celebrating the Journey: I’ve learned the importance of appreciating the small victories along the way. Progress, no matter how minor, deserves to be celebrated. These moments keep me motivated and positive.

As I continue on this path, I hope you’ll take the time to reflect on what truly matters to you, and take meaningful action toward those things. It’s about finding balance, setting boundaries, and honoring what aligns with your values. Thanks for joining me on this journey.

Until next week, take care and Ka kite.
