Relentless Focus & Consistent Action: Truly Understanding What It Takes

For years, people told me to slow down. “Rest more”. “Take care of yourself.” “You’re doing too much. "Don’t multitask so much.” “Stop trying to juggle everything.” “You’re working too many hours, you’re working too hard.” I’ve been called obsessive, a workaholic, even “too much.” And for a while, I wondered if they were right. But something deep inside me never believed them. And recently, I’ve confirmed what I always knew: the level I’ve been operating at all these years isn’t a flaw, it’s exactly what it takes to succeed.

One thing I also heard was, “Don’t work harder, Kristyl. Work smarter.” But that advice never sat right with me either. How are you supposed to figure out the “smarter way” without working hard first? I believe in working hard to discover the smarter way and even once you’ve figured that out, you still have to work hard to make it happen.

The people who inspire me, the ones I look up to, don’t casually do things. They aren’t tentative or hesitant. They’re fully committed. Seeing this in others has only solidified my understanding: success doesn’t happen without relentless focus and hard work.

What I’ve realized is that most people don’t know how to fully support my level of work, obsession, and commitment that I know takes to reach the huge success I am working towards. And that’s okay. It’s not their intention, but it’s a reality. Achieving at that level requires relentless drive, which a lot of people simply haven’t experienced.

Here’s what I’ve confirmed: success isn’t casual. I have had many discussions with friends about whether we can truly succeed if we do it so casually and not laser focused. But I don't believe it’s something you stumble into. It requires an intensity and focus that most people may not understand. The long hours, the multitasking, the sacrifices, they’re not “too much.” They’re exactly what it takes to achieve big things.

I used to feel guilty for working so hard, for being obsessed with what I love. But now I know better. That obsession isn’t something I need to fix it’s the fuel that drives me forward.

The people who achieve extraordinary things don’t do it by taking it easy or by following the crowd. They do it by showing up every day, giving their all, taking action and refusing to quit when things get tough. And yes, that level of commitment may look crazy to people who may not know how to work that hard. But I’ve realized that working hard and working smart go hand in hand. It’s not one or the other it’s both.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of being intentional about who I let into my close circle. Not everyone deserves access to my energy or my vision. Now, I only surround myself with people who do understand and are working at that level or are trying their best to improve their own lives. I’m starting to connect more with people who are years ahead of where I am, who inspire me, push me, and remind me that my ambition isn’t a flaw. It’s my greatest strength.

It’s such a good feeling to have clarity about what I do, why I do it, and how I feel about life. Knowing that the way I work, the way I think, and the way I push myself is exactly at the level I need to be is reassuring. Most people won’t understand what this kind of drive looks like, and that’s okay. It’s not their journey, it’s mine. This is me, focused, driven, and intentional. I’m fully committed to the journey, and I’m exactly where I need to be. And now that I know I'm going all in.
