Building unshakable self-confidence hasn’t just been part of my journey; it’s been my top priority. It didn’t happen overnight, but through consistent effort, self-reflection, and a willingness to push through challenges, I'm grateful to have a strong sense of self. I absolutely believe in myself even when I don't know what I'm doing or how I'm gonna get to where I'm going or how. Here are steps I took to make self-confidence the foundation of everything I do:
1. Embracing Failure
First off, I’ve learned to be okay with failing. Seriously, it’s a part of the process. Every time I stumble, I see it as a lesson learned rather than a setback. Instead of avoiding failure, I lean into it. I even started writing these blogs with the theme 'Passionately Failing Towards Success' and wrote every week for a year on how I was willing to fail more to achieve my goals to succeed. I even converted it into a book. It's how I grow, and it’s built my confidence to know I can keep moving no matter what.
2. Taking Imperfect Action
I’ve also learned not to wait for things to be perfect before I take action. I refuse to be one of those people who never takes action on their dreams, goals, and ideas just because they’re waiting for perfection. I’d rather take clumsy steps than sit around hoping everything aligns perfectly. Sometimes I fall flat on my face, but each time, I learn something important. The messy middle of trying is where I find my growth, and that’s been a game-changer for my confidence. It's been a game changer for how far I've come and what I've achieved in such a short amount of time.
3. Ditching the Need for Approval
For a long time, I craved validation from others. But guess what? I don’t need anyone’s approval anymore. The moment I stopped seeking outside validation was the moment I started to truly trust myself. It’s all about knowing that my own approval is what really counts.
4. Having a Clear (and Flexible) Vision
Getting clear on what I want has been essential, but I’ve also learned that my vision can change. It’s totally okay to reset, reevaluate, and change my direction as I go. C
I have had to consistently change my direction because I'm moving so hard and so fast that times that I'm more aware of the need to change because I'm constantly moving outside my comfort zone. Life is fluid, and being open to change has made my journey so much easier and more empowering.
5. Competing With Myself
Many years ago I used to compare myself to everyone around me but 9 years ago I stopped doing that. I realized we’re all on different paths. I don’t ever want to walk in someone else’s shoes. I don't want to live somebody else's life and do what they're doing. I love the path that I'm currently on and doing what I love. And I just want to be the best version of me! So now, I focus on my journey and celebrate my progress, which brings me so much joy.
6. Putting in the Work
People often say I work too hard, and maybe I do! But I’d rather be tired from chasing my dreams than sitting comfortably, we'll rest but far from my goals. The hard work is where I find my strength, and each effort I put in boosts my confidence. I don't know anybody that's succeeded that hasn't had to put in the hard yards. So no I'm not going to sit comfortably by resting all the time not putting in the mahi.
7. Figuring It Out as I Go
I used to think I needed to know everything before taking the next step, but I’ve realized that’s just not true. I don’t need all the answers; I just need to keep learning and finding people who know more than me. Following their lead in my own way has helped me so much!
8. Being My Own Biggest Fan
I’ve learned to advocate for myself. If I don’t believe in me, who will? I’m proud of what I bring to the table, and I speak up for my vision and accomplishments. Confidence isn’t waiting for someone to lift me up; it’s about stepping into my power and owning it.
9. Embracing All Emotions
I’ve come to embrace all my emotions, especially during tough times. Life isn’t always easy, and feeling stressed or out of my comfort zone is just part of pushing myself. Knowing who I am allows me to brush off anyone trying to define me. I’m living my own experience, and it’s all part of being human.
10. Sharing the Real Journey
I believe in keeping it real and sharing the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you check out my pages, you’ll see the behind-the-scenes moments of my life. It’s been a struggle, but I’m committed to not giving up. Those challenges are part of what fuels my growth.
I feel a ton of joy knowing I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. While I love the support of those around me, I don’t need anyone else to make my dreams a reality anymore. That empowerment feels amazing, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next!
11. Being Okay with Being Misunderstood
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on my journey is being okay with being misunderstood. People will often give you their opinions or thoughts based on limited information or their own experiences. They may not truly understand your vision, your journey, or what you’re trying to achieve. And that’s okay.
I made it my mission to know myself deeply, to learn who I am and what I stand for more than anyone else could. That way, when people misinterpret or misunderstand me, it doesn’t shake my confidence or make me second-guess my decisions. Knowing myself has given me the strength to stay true to my goals, even when others don’t see the full picture.
At the end of the day, no one can truly know your path like you do. Being at peace with that allows me to keep moving forward with clarity and purpose, regardless of what others may think or say.
So here’s to building confidence, embracing the journey, and knowing that we all have the power to create our own paths.
