Welcome to week 39 of my year-long Challenge! This is where I have learnt so much about myself. The biggest reason for doing this year-long challenge was to consistently push myself outside of my comfort zone on a regular basis. Sometimes, we can get too comfortable that we stop challenging ourselves to learn more, to improve and get better, to grow and increase in knowledge and do things we have never done before. One of my favorite quotes is, 'We will never know how far we can go, until we go to the places we have never been before'. Meaning, we will never know how big we can get until we challenge ourselves to do more than we thought, try harder than we have ever tried, and go farther than we thought we could go. This year, I wanted to do more in my life. To make it happen, I had to do more of the things that were hard, scary, required more of me and requires bigger leaps of faith. So this week, I wanted to reflect on a few of the things I have discovered over the course of this year.
There is always a way even if we don't see it.
Plan, prepare, be organized, execute the plan, debrief and have a contingency plan. If those areas are clear, then I don't have to know everything. Always be fluid and be willing to make any necessary changes.
Have those uncomfortable conversations.
I slowly managed to have those awkward conversations and make the necessary changes to protect my space. It was difficult at first and I would have preferred to avoid it at all cost, but I was able to keep myself protected by having those much-needed conversations with people, contractors and staff.
Learn to value myself more than anyone does.
I talk about this a lot and truly believe it. I have had to know my own worth and value in the world. It means that you believe in yourself and what you are able to do and recognize what your strengths are. If you value yourself, it makes it easier to take actionable steps towards growth and achieving your goals.
Do the things I don't want to do to achieve the things I want.
The more we do the things we don't want to do the easier it becomes and doing more of the things we need to do in order to achieve our life goals. Lying in bed is so much easier than walking and eating well. However, the payoff for doing the things you don't want to do which is walking and eating well is that you look and feel better.
Dream Bigger
The bigger the dream, the bigger the sense of accomplishment. The bigger my dream, more is required of me which has enabled me to upskill, learn more and grow.
This year has seen an epic growth and I am glad that I have consistently encouraged myself to Passionately Fail Towards Success. The consistent blogs have allowed me to reflect on whether I have been pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and, I am happy to tell you that I have. It has been a rollercoaster ride but so worthwhile because of tremendous growth along with the challenges. With 12.5 weeks to complete my challenge, I am excited to give it my all until the finish line.
